Landscaping Stones Used in Southwest Florida

Here is a list of all but not limited to stones/rocks that we use for our landscape installations in the Southwest Florida area

River Rock - These are smooth, rounded stones, often used for garden paths, dry creek beds, and as mulch around plants for drainage and aesthetic appeal. Available in various sizes from small pea gravel to larger stones.

Lava Rock - Known for its porous texture and lightweight nature, these come in red or black colors. They're excellent for adding texture to garden beds and are often used in fire pits due to their heat resistance.

Pea Gravel - Small, rounded pebbles that are roughly the size of a pea. Popular for walkways, driveways, and as mulch because they allow for good drainage and are less likely to shift.

Crushed Gravel - Composed of sharp, irregularly shaped fragments. It's great for driveways, pathways, and as a base for patios due to its stability and drainage properties.

Marble Chips - These provide a high-end look with their sparkling white appearance. They are often used in high-visibility areas like flower beds but should be used cautiously around plants sensitive to soil pH changes.

Flagstone - Large, flat slabs used for patios, walkways, and stepping stones. It's durable and comes in varieties like sandstone or slate, offering a natural look.

Boulders - Used for creating focal points, retaining walls, or natural barriers. They can be granite, limestone, or other types, adding a dramatic element to landscapes.

Decomposed Granite - A fine gravel of granite, ideal for pathways or as a base for pavers. It compacts well and offers a more formal look compared to loose gravel.

Cedar Bark Rock - A lightweight stone with the appearance of cedar bark, popular for its natural look and because it doesn't decay. Used for various landscaping projects where a wood-like appearance is desired.

White River Rock - Smooth, white stones used to brighten up landscapes, particularly in shaded areas, and for creating contrast in garden designs.

Mexican Beach Pebble - Known for its smooth surface and dark colors, these are low-maintenance stones used for borders, pathways, or around water features.

Brick Chips - Made from crushed brick, these offer a warm color palette and are used for driveways, pathways, or as mulch replacements.
